Oak is a long board manufactured in the technique of using a press to laminate 2 millimeter sheets of oak and fiberglass together.
The long board was designed with a definite front and back. The back sports a large kick tail to help with maneuverability and tricks. The front also sports a smaller kick tail to optimize options. The main body of the long board has a small rocker to help with stability. The wheel base is 24 millimeters which supports the ability to take tight curves and makes for a more lively ride. The board itself is relatively flexible and combined with softer wheels lends itself to a smoother ride as well as vibration damping.
One piece of the press (male) was made using a CNC robotic arm and the other part (female) using a vacuum bag.
Oak was a project designed and manufactured for the Composite Material course at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem.
